This site was started in the fall of 2008 by four charming Morton alumni - brothers, friends, former teammates, and coaches of members of the 2008 Morton Cross Country Team. This site was inspired by a series of rather lengthy - and quite humorous - e-mails detailing the early season performances of the Morton squad, and our excitement about their potential over the next few seasons.
These handsome young alumni realized that their excitement benefited no one if it was kept in a series of private e-mails. They realized that they collectively had years - and hundreds of races worth - of accumulated racing acumen that could also be shared with this young alliance of hard-working Morton-ites (and some Groveland-onians). Thus was born this site, the fascinating chronicle of Morton's Varsity Cross Country and Track teams.
Goals
The goals of this site are:
- to share excitement about the potential of these young teams and the athletes that represent them
- to praise the performances - both in racing and in training efforts - of these young athletes
- to share details and stories of the exciting races
- to offer advice and constructive criticism to the athletes, should they choose to partake of this site's fountain of wisdom
- to reveal that Morton has a history and tradition of successful runners and teams, even if that history has not been as consistent as desired
- to encourage the athletes that this tradition of success can be reignited, and even made consistent to the point that Morton could persistently be atop the area rankings
- to share the performances of Morton alumni who may still be racing, either collegiately or in open competition
- to insult, deride or ridicule athletes of the Morton squad for poor performances - or even excellent performances that did not match expecations
- to insult, deride or ridicule other teams or athletes for any reason

Fans, friends, family, parents, and other Morton alumni, we know you are out there! Comment! If you wish to write for us, let us know! If you have stories of Morton's tradition and history that could encourage and enlighten the squad, send them to us at mhsrunners@gmail.com. The oldest of us was an MHS student in the late '90s, so our knowledge of Morton running history farther back than the mid to late 1990s is sorely lacking in detail.
If you have stories or perspectives on the races this season that we miss, share them with us, and we'll share them with the readers of the site. A lot happens in a cross country race and it's hard to keep track of a whole team with dozens of runners. We are specifically focusing on the scoring varsity squads, but would love to have stories of the younger runners who will be filling out that varsity roster in a few short years.

Everyone-
I would like to personally say that you have all gone leaps and bounds beyond where you were last year as a team. I would know as i tried to light a fire under you. Keep the info coming in as i can rarely keep up from so far away.
Take care and know that the Creators although all not able to make all your races would do so if the entity know as school was not in the way.
