Howdy Potter fans!
The track season has begun, and though I was a week or so late to the party, I saw a very strong early season showing by the Potter men against Pekin and Dunlap yesterday. The men cleaned up in the 4x400, Fernandez, Austin and Joe went 1-2-3 in the 800, Nick Piper and Joe went 1 & 3 in the 1600, with PRs from both and a blazing time of 4:37 from Nick. Pipes also won the 3200 convincingly, with Luke Riffle a few spots behind in a new PR. Luke also PR'd in the 1600.
The Potters also looked strong in the sprints, led by DJ Zahn. It'll be exciting to see what this squad can do this year. I want to see about 10 different athletes competing in Charleston. Two relays, and some individuals. My, how this program has come along in the past 3 years!
Unfortunately, my new work schedule, classes, and other commitments mean that I won't be at as many of the meets as the past few years, especially those weekday meets that start by 4:30. But I'll be there when I can, camera in hand, and look forward to hearing about the ones I can't make it to.
